We are Kompa Law.
We're focused on employment and human rights law. That's our thing. It's what we're passionate about and it's what we're good at. Unlike many firms that offer services outside of employment and human rights law, we dedicate our time and energy to these areas and pride ourselves on providing trustworthy, practical advice in our areas of expertise.
We're not a traditional law firm. Billing targets don’t drive our services. Instead, we're a client-centred small business. We focus on efficiency, continuity of service, and providing a positive experience for our clients through cost effective and trustworthy advice. We answer your questions, meet deadlines, and keep you up to date with your matter.
About Samantha Kompa.
My name is Samantha Kompa, and I've dedicated my career to employment and human rights law, first in a full service firm, then at a community legal clinic, and now as the founder of Kompa Law.
I have experience representing clients at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, Ontario Labour Relations Board, Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Small Claims Court, Landlord and Tenant Board, Social Benefits Tribunal and in adjudications under the Canada Labour Code.
While the bulk of my career has focused on representing individuals, I also help proactive employers, too. When it comes to employment law, I believe that positive work environments create massive benefits not only for employees, but employers and their bottom line.
Our Approach.
Specialized advice for specialized areas. We only work in employment and human rights law. We're not all things to all people, and we don’t dabble in other areas of law.
We are thoughtful and selective about the cases we take on. We're not a volume-based practice. We don’t take on every case that comes through our door, nor do we encourage litigation in order to get a contingency fee. Instead, we dedicate our time and energy to cases with strong factual foundations and which advance social justice.
Communication is key. We keep you up to date on your case in clear, understandable language. We want to make sure you know where your matter is at, that your questions are answered, and that your ideas are heard.
Teamwork. When you become our client, you become part of your own legal team. We will listen to your goals and fears and craft practical solutions that work for you. We assess cases with a view to resolution. While some cases need to be litigated, many can be resolved with less-stressful, more cost-effective alternatives.
How we work with our clients.
We put ourselves in your shoes. We feel your stress and fears, and we share your goals. Your problems become our problems and we work tirelessly to solve them.
We will be real with you about your case and your options. We believe in straightforward communication. We commit to telling you about your risks, costs, and opportunities as they arise.
We trust you and will work with you towards a common goal and purpose. We believe in the power of communication, clear goal setting, and well defined roles for the both of us.
How we got here.
